History of Harrisonburg Animal Hospital
Harrisonburg Animal Hospital was formed in the 1950s, and since has been the longest running small animal veterinarian in Harrisonburg. The hospital has been in its current location since 1996. Dr. Ward, the current owner, purchased the practice from her mentor, Dr. Terry Jessen. He owned the practice from 1998 until 2016, when he retired. Dr. Jessen and his staff left a legacy of treating their clients like family members, and we strive to continue that mission.
Our hospital has been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) since 1997. AAHA is a group which actively partners with clinics and hospitals to ensure that the highest standards of veterinary care are followed. This includes nearly 900 separate standards and practices that hospitals follow to remain accredited. These standards change with improvements in medical care, and hospitals are inspected periodically. Our Hospital was last inspected in January 2018. What this means to you is that we work diligently to ensure that your pets receive the best care possible.
